  • IS THERE ANY OTHER AUDIO LIKE SOUND DESIGN / SOUND EFFECTS AVAILABLE?
They sure are! See the 'SFX' tab in the top left of the Audio Library. There you'll find over 220,000 high quality sound effects.
  • DO YOU HAVE VOICE OVER / VOICE TALENTS?
Yes, the Red Bull Audio Library also hosts a catalog of Voice Talents. You can switch over to the Voice Talents by choosing them in the top left corner. Please note that for legal reasons, this is only available for folks with a Red Bull address.
  • ANY TRICKS TO PIMP MY SEARCH FOR MUSIC?
Have you ever tried the ‘exclude’ functionality (using the minus – symbol)? It’s pretty powerful. Try to approach a search from the other way around: Start with a very general term and then start excluding keywords that do not fit what you’re looking for. For example: Searching for “Rock” will give you loads of tracks which you could narrow down by excluding a couple of keywords like this: “-aggressive”, “-punk”, “-pop”. This will remove any results containing any of these keywords from the list of found tracks. Use the Asterisk ( * ) and you will get all results that begin with the entered term (for example entering dub* will not only give you all results containing the keywords dub but also anything containing dubstep or dubby). Use Quotation Marks ( ” ” ) if you are looking for a specific term or a specific combination of terms. This makes sense when looking for song titles which you should always quote to get the right track. You can also use these to look for a specific combination of keywords like “emotional pop” which will only give you results that include these keywords in that exact order. Combine EXPLORE, GENRE, MOOD, SITUATION sliders and check-boxes. Similarity Search: Click on the Find Similar link in the player area to get a list of tracks that are similar to the one you’ve selected. The results are based on a rather complex algorithm which comes down to a single value that serves as the basis for the resulting similarity. To make the results more likely to fit we’re also filtering the results so that the suggested tracks should be within the same genre. The underlying algorithm is constantly tweaked to make the results even more relevant (feedback is always appreciated!).
  • I CAN'T FIND THE MUSIC I NEED - CAN SOMEONE HELP?
Certainly! Here at Red Bull Global Music Services we have some dedicated music supervisor professionals who will do everything in their power to sort you out with the best music available. Nobody knows the repertoire depth of our 1 mio tracks database better than these guys. You tell them what you need, they search and suggest. And if you have budget, we even produce to spec for you. We have a global network of composers available. Just email the Music Supervisor Team. Or check out the FAQ "ARE THERE ANY PRO TIPS FOR THE SEARCH BAR?"
  • CAN A PRODUCTION PARTNER HAVE ACCESS TO THE AUDIO LIBRARY?
Absolutely! External production partners are entitled to have Audio Library access while working on a Red Bull production. The external production partner can sign up here and state his/her Red Bull contact for the production. Please note that an external will not automatically have access to the Voice Talent tab. If an external needs access to this, please email us. As a reminder: the Red Bull Audio Library is only licensed to deliver music for Red Bull Productions and Co-Productions only.
  • CAN I LICENSE MUSIC FOR OTHER PRODUCTIONS?
For any Red Bull owned catalogues (e.g. SOUNDS OF RED BULL), you can hop over to music.redbullcontentpool.com to acquire a license for non-Red Bull productions. For any other catalogues, please get in contact with the respective rights holders.
  • CAN I RE-EDIT AN ASSET USING THE SAME MUSIC?
Please go into the Red Bull Audio Library and check if the used track is still available. If you cannot find the song, please reach out to us to clarify.
  • WHAT RIGHTS ARE CLEARED?
Red Bull Global Music Services has pre-cleared (licensed) all of the music in the Audio Library for use in standard Red Bull productions and co-productions for almost all media in perpetuity - this is known as Editorial Use. If you are working on a production that requires Theatrical rights, Advertising rights, is a Podcast or part of a Brand Partnership, please make sure to activate the corresponding filter in the "Cleared For" picker next to the search bar, as not all music on the Red Bull Audio Library is pre-cleared and pre-paid for these use cases! For more information check out our FAQ "How does the Cleared For picker work"? If you create an asset for a mobile app, an asset sold via VOD or on a DVD, or any other physical product, an additional mechanical license for the duplication of a composition needs to be in place with rights holders. However, we do have certain catalogs available that do not require mechanical licenses. When in doubt always feel free to contact us – we are here to help you through any headache you might have related to music usages.
  • I'M AN ATHLETE / INFLUENCER / CONTENT CREATOR - HOW CAN I USE YOUR MUSIC?
If you are a private person and seeking to acquire a license for your personal channels, seek no more - Red Bull Sound Supply is the right platform for your music needs! On Red Bull Sound Supply, you can license tracks from Red Bull owned catalogues (e.g. SOUNDS OF RED BULL) for your personal use in your content.
  • I'M UNSURE WHICH RIGHTS I NEED?
No worries, we know our stuff! Just drop us an email, we’ll be right with you.
  • HOW DOES THE "CLEARED FOR" PICKER WORK?"
What is the idea behind this filter? The filter helps you to find music that is pre-cleared and pre-paid even for usages that go beyond standard Editorial Use. The music in the Audio Library is mainly sourced from 3rd party rights holders, and the scope of rights varies for the different libraries. This means some of the music is not pre-cleared and pre-paid for e.g. a theatrical release, advertising use, podcasts, etc. Specifically for Advertising use, it is now super easy to exclude the music that requires an additional license fee from your search results, and only find the music that is already pre-cleared and pre-paid for Advertising. The following options are currently available: Editorial Use: This is our standard setting. Use this for our productions that do not require Theatrical rights, that are not used for Product Advertising or used solely by a Brand Partner. If you select this option, all music from the Red Bull Audio Library will be available to you. Paid Media on our social channels for Editorial content is also covered by this (e.g. paid boosting), as long as the asset does not fall into the Advertising category. Theatrical Release: Choose this filter to see the music that is also pre-cleared for content that requires theatrical rights. Podcasts: Use this option when you are working on a podcast. Please note that if you are working on a podcast which is part of a Brand Partnership, choose “Brand Partnerships” instead. Red Bull Product Advertising: This choice should be used for advertising campaigns. If you are unsure if your asset falls into the product advertising category, please consult with your Legal Counsel. Some of the checkpoints are: Focus on the product/brand, content encourages product purchase, has a call to action (“buy now”), high resolution can pack shot and/or claim/end slate “Gives you Wiiings”. Brand Partnerships (Online Use only): This option is for Brand Partnership productions, especially for cases where the Brand Partner solely uses the clip on its digital channels, but it can also be chosen for all other content produced within the Brand Partnership (i.e. content that is transmitted and distributed by the Brand Partner and us). Please note that if the Brand Partner requires more rights than just online usage rights (e.g. POS, theatrical, linear TV, etc.), please reach out to us to clarify. This option does NOT cover commissioned productions for a 3rd party (where RBMH is the commissioned production partner), it is for Brand Partnership productions only. What if my production does not fit into any of the categories above? Not all productions can easily be put into one of these categories. If in doubt, please do reach out to us at musicservices@redbull.com or your Legal Counsel, we are here to help.
  • I'M WORKING ON A THEATRICAL PRODUCTION, PODCAST, ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN OR BRAND PARTNERSHIP PROJECT. ARE MY MUSIC CHOICES RESTRICTED/LIMITED TO THE SEARCH RESULTS OF THE "CLEARED FOR" PICKER I APPLIED?"
You can also search through the whole music catalog without the filter activated when working on a project that falls into one of these four categories; however, depending on which music you pick the use cases listed may require a budget for additional license fees on your end and a clearance process (which is handled by the Global Music Services team). The license fee per song varies depending on the music catalog the song is from and the scope of rights you need; however, most production music is very affordable and easy to clear. Please reach out to us at musicservices@redbull.com to start the process.
  • HOW SHOULD I EXPORT AN EDL?
An EDL (Edit Decision List) is a small file that lists all the tracks you've used in your production. Such a file can be used to easily match your filenames to the tracks from the Audio Library in order to create a Music Cue Sheet. For that, it is important that you create EDLs only for your audio tracks in your editing suite. Here are some detailed instructions for the most common editing suites: Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, Pro Tools and Final Cut Pro. Adobe Premiere: We know how much you like video tutorials - so check out this one. Avid Media Composer: Select Windows > List Tool Window and choose CMX_3600 in the Output Format drop down In the Input tab, click Load... to load the active sequence. Then, select the tracks you want to export. Typically, you select the tracks with music only. You can skip the audio tracks for voice overs, sound effects etc. as these must not be in the Music Cue Sheet. Go to the tab List Options. Uncheck everything in the tab Picture, and in the tab Sound. In the tab Both Picture and Sound, only check Clip Names and Source File Name. In the List Tool Window, you can now go to Preview, Save the List and choose To one file. Now in order to not do this all over again when exporting EDLs from Media Composer, you can save your settings. Click on the drop down Active Setting and choose Save As. Pro Tools: Select the Pro Tools tracks, that contain music. Skip the tracks with voice over, sound effects etc. Go to File > Export > Session Info as Text. In the following window, which is called Export Session Text, do the following: Uncheck all checkboxes Check Include Track EDL's Check Selected Tracks Only Check Don't show Crossfades Set Time Format to Timecode Set File Format to Text (OS X) Click OK Final Cut Pro X: In Final Cut Pro, select a project that you want to export as XML file. To export the project currently open in the Timeline, click in the Timeline to make it active. Choose File > Export XML In the window that appears, navigate to a folder on your hard disk where you want to store the XML file Click Save
  • HOW CAN I CREATE A MUSIC CUE SHEET (MCS) FROM SCRATCH?
If you need to do the manual work, you're not stopped! Just watch the clip to see how.
  • WHAT IS THE MUSIC CUE SHEET TOOL?
Our state of the art Music Cue Sheet Tool will automatically recognize metadata of tracks you used from the Red Bull Audio Library. This saves you a lot of time in helping you create the documents you need with every video asset as part of your delivery requirements and secures accurate and fair music royalty accounting. The use of the music cue sheet tool is absolutely mandatory for every piece of content Red Bull Media House produces or co-produces - even if you have not used tracks from the Red Bull Audio Library. There are 2 ways to create a Music Cue Sheet: with an EDL or from scratch. For detailed instructions, please check out the FAQs "HOW CAN I CREATE A MUSIC CUE SHEET WITH AN EDL?" and "HOW CAN I CREATE A MUSIC CUE SHEET FROM SCRATCH?"
  • I'M DONE WITH MY MUSIC CUE SHEET! HOW CAN I FINALIZE IT?
After you have created your Music Cue Sheet with one of the three methods (check out the other FAQs regarding EDL, Audio Analysis or from scratch), it's on you to finalize it. Make sure you have all the necessary information entered: Production title Total duration Production company name Producer & production date Details for each individual track VIN(s) Please Note: You can add multiple VINs! But be aware to only enter the VINs for which this Cue Sheet applies to (same length, same music, same timecodes). A good example are different versions for a social clip (16x9 format, 1x1 format, 4x3 format - all of them are the same clip with the same music, just in different formats). When you're ready, click on Finalize Cue Sheet! It will trigger an upload of the Music Cue Sheet to the video asset in our archiving system Content Hub. This means you don't have to manually send over the Music Cue Sheet to your Content Manager! *yay* If you still need a copy of the Music Cue Sheet, you'll find the optional download buttons at the top (Download Cue Sheet to PDF or Excel).
  • HOW CAN I SHARE MUSIC CUE SHEETS WITH OTHER USERS?
With our new functionality "Organize and Share Music Cue Sheets", grouping Music Cue Sheets into separate folders and sharing them with others can't be easier than that. Let's say you're working on a bigger production and you know that you're getting multiple Music Cue Sheets from different users. You can go ahead and create a new folder and share it with every user/partner you're expecting a Music Cue Sheet from. Simply drag'n'drop a Music Cue Sheet from the right side into the according folder. Now, everyone who has access to that folder is able to see your Music Cue Sheet as well! You can double click on a folder to display all relevant Music Cue Sheets in the detail view on the right side. Do you want to return and just see Your Music Cue Sheets again? No problem, simply click on "Show All Cue Sheets" and it will jump back to all the Cue Sheets you created.
  • WHAT IF I USED MUSIC THAT IS NOT FROM THE AUDIO LIBRARY?
Bad news: You still need to enter those tracks. If the music used is not from the Red Bull Audio Library, you should use "Create a blank cue sheet" and add the Cues manually. Simply hit the "Add new Cue" button and enter the information about the track manually. Don't forget to click "Save" after entering the Composer & Publisher info. Good news: You're supporting our goal to most accurate royalty fairness to make sure those composers and producers receive their fair share ;)
  • HOW CAN I CREATE A MUSIC CUE SHEET (MCS) WITH AN EDL?
That's very simple! Just watch the this clip.
  • WHY MUSIC CUE SHEETS?
Red Bull Media Network has built innovative technology to distribute music royalties accurately. Those composers and producers used to boost your content should receive their fair share. But the system only works when your MUSIC CUE SHEETS are correct. Please support royalty fairness by filing accurate MCS via the respective tool available in the Red Bull Audio Library. If the music is not from the RB Audio Library, you still need to go to the site and use “Create a blank cue sheet” and fill in the information there. The same Music Cue Sheet output will be produced.
